So, Who the Heck Is Cassi?


I'm Cassi -- the photographer behind C. Marilyn Photography -- and I'm probably not the person you hire if you want your wedding photographer to quietly blend into the wallpaper.

I'm here to fix your hair when there's a loose strand, laugh with you during all the funny moments and shed a tear when Grandpa gives you away -- because I get it, I've been through it and I want to document your wedding day as someone with a personality who genuinely cares.

Why C. Marilyn Photography?


So why did I name my business C. Marilyn Photography?

Many assume it's because of my admiration for Marilyn Monroe, and as much as I adore her...it's actually because of my grandma, Marilyn. The woman who I've admired my entire life.

She's no longer on this earth, but her presence is with me every time I'm creating. She's right there cheering me on.

I come from a long line of artists in my family, grandma included, and photography is my art. I remember sharing with my grandma that I finally got a "nice" camera, and she thought that was so neat. I can still hear those words today.

How I Became a Washington Wedding Photographer


My pathway into photography isn't the traditional "I've always loved taking pictures."

As much as I have always loved taking pictures, it's been largely around animals and my humungous love for them. From dressing up my childhood dog to my adult years having pets of my own.

I was a veterinary technician for 13+ years specializing in small animals (cats and dogs). I began photographing my dogs professionally in 2018 and continued through the pandemic.

I photographed people here and there, but spent the majority of my time as a brand ambassador for some of my favorite pet companies like FI + MIMI, Pawsific Pine and Sexy Beast Dog Collars.

After my own wedding in 2019, I saw how much joy came with photographing people that are SO in love! I wanted to go and explore the most beautiful locations in Washington and help others spend their day focusing on the main characters...THEM.

That's what eventually led me to becoming a wedding and elopement photographer serving Monroe, Snohomish County and couples throughout Washington.

You Don't Have to Know How to Pose


I tell every client that works with me that they don't have to know how to model, pose or worry about what to do with their hands.

This is literally my job.

I give direction when people need it, and when there's a beautiful moment, I let it happen and take a step back to let you soak it in.

I notice the little things like the earrings your grandmother gave you or the watch your brother bought you as an engagement gift. I love these parts of sessions. Hearing about the people that matter most to you and how excited they are to celebrate you!

Most importantly, I care most about how you're feeling (HI, EMPATH here!), so I'm going to keep the vibes going during your session and hype you up whenever you need it.

Every client that works with me comes into my life for a reason. Each story is unique, and there's always a beautiful significance for why we create together.

I may not know why until the very end of the session on the walk back to the car, but the answer will come.

For the Neurospicy, Whimsical People


This past year, I went through a self-discovery and found out I'm a late-blooming AuDHD.

I always wondered, why do I feel different than the people who love going to big social events and being with all the girls? It's really not my thing, and as much as I've tried to force it, it's not happening.

I get overwhelmed and end up leaving.

Who I do resonate with, though? The neurospicy people.

If you've ever been around neurodivergent people (ADHD, Autism, OCD, ADD, AuDHD, etc.), you'll notice we are the whimsy folks. The people who want to hear about your life.

What made you choose this mountain spot -- because your family travels there each year and has dinner right before the stars appear?

THESE ARE MY PEOPLE!

Admiring the moss that's hanging from the trees (my favorite is witch's hair, or some call it old man's beard). The rock that I chose to rest your engagement ring on for your photo, and you loved that rock and took it home.

Special interests, anyone?

Well, photography is my special interest, and all these little parts of it all fall into that category.

A Few Things You Should Probably Know About Me


  • I have two Boston Terriers. I want to hear about your dog.
  • I am aggressively organized about photography despite appearing otherwise.
  • I love vintage cinema and old-school feminine aesthetics.
  • I will absolutely tell you if your timeline is going to screw you over (and help you align it for your day).
  • I would rather photograph you laughing than manufacturing a perfect smile.
  • I am genuinely excited about your wedding.

So What Does All of This Mean for You?


Basically, you're not just getting someone who knows how to operate a camera and has been obsessing over light, camera settings and how to be the best photographer I can be...

You're also getting someone who actually understands people.

Someone who can read the room, help you figure out where to be for the next part of your day, keep an eye on the timeline, notice when Grandma starts crying, remind you to breathe and be there to guide you through one of the most exciting days of your life.

Which results in super freaking awesome photos.
